Aspen Sports Medicine will be providing First Aid Treatment, Physical Therapy and Chiropractic Services at the 47th Annual Aspen Ruggerfest September 18-21, 2014. Aspen Sports Medicine has been participating in Ruggerfest for the past 10 years and is excited to help out those crazy ruggers once again. They will be located on the sidelines of Rio Grande field and will be there from Friday morning until the finals on Sunday. Tents will be set up and will provide treatments and taping on site. If additional and extensive treatments are necessary they can be arranged at Aspen Sports Medicine on Hyman Street for a small fee. Purvi was born in the winter town of Winnipeg, Manitoba but moved to Vancouver in beautiful British Columbia, Canada at a young age and considers that home. After attending University of BC for her undergrad she completed her Masters of Physiotherapy at the University of Manchester in the UK. Graduating in 2001 she ventured out to find mountains and snow and ended up in Colorado. Her travels have included hospitals and private practices from Rifle, Glenwood Springs, Aspen and Vail. Her interests have centered on an orthopedic setting, specializing in manual and manipulative therapy, trigger point dry needling, functional movement screens, selective movement assessments, post-surgical rehab and sports medicine rehab, fascial movement taping/stretching and RockTaping. She also has been heavily involved with specialized sport physiotherapy with the Gentleman of Aspen Rugby Club, Denver Barbarians Rugby Club, USA Classic Eagles Rugby Club, Boulder Rugby Club, Misfits Rugby, Tiger Rugby, a developmental rugby club for the Olympics, 1823 Rugby Club, based in Columbus, Ohio and occasional assistance with CU rugby and CSU Rugby Clubs. She also has completed her Specialized Certificate in Sport and is planning on traveling to England, Scotland, South Africa, Australia and the Gods land for rugby…New Zealand in the next couple of years to work alongside some Olympic developmental clubs and premier teams. Currently she works at Exempla Spine Care in Lakewood, Colorado. Although she is Canadian, her bulldog hails from Missouri and she plans to spend more time trying to convert people to rugby, finding out how her bulldog manages to consume so much peanut butter, and how to fly fish without actually touching the fish.

Ashley Welch, D.C.

Ashley Welch, D.C. received her chiropractic degree from National University of Health Sciences, located in Lombard, Illinois. While in school, she was the President of her school’s chapter of the Student American Chiropractic Association. She also spent a month at the Iliana, VA Hospital serving veterans with chiropractic care. Dr. Welch spent her undergraduate career at the University of Illinois, majoring in Kinesiology and completing the accredited Athletic Training Education program. During that time she was able to work as a Student Athletic Trainer with the University’s Football, Women’s Basketball, Men’s & Women’s Gymnastics, and Softball teams. Before starting chiropractic school, she spent time as a Personal Trainer in Chicago. Dr. Welch specializes in sports medicine and corrective exercises. She believes that patient education and an active lifestyle is of primary importance to a patient’s wellness. She is a certified Active Release Technique provider, FMS certified, and a Fascial Movement Taping certified RockTape provider. During her spare time, Dr. Welch enjoys watching college sports and spending time with friends and family. She is an avid Fighting Illini fan and Chicago sports fan.
